(January 28, 2002) – Randall Publishing's Commercial Carrier Journal magazine published 724 pages of business solutions for trucking professionals for the six-month period from July-December 2001. That's nearly 40 more pages than its nearest competitor. CCJ also led the industry in market share, publishing 371 pages of paid advertising over the same period - 48 more than its nearest competitor. The magazine excels on the editorial front, as well. Over the same six-month period, CCJ editors delivered 33 feature articles - 15 more than its nearest competitor. "We strive to offer readers a well-balanced information package each month," says CCJ Editorial Director Avery Vise. "We cover every issue that impacts our readers - including business operations, information technology, and equipment and maintenance issues." Staying on top of reader concerns is key, Vise says. To accomplish that goal, CCJ editors talk extensively to trucking company executives, maintenance managers and other trucking professionals. In fact, CCJ quoted 146 fleet representatives over the six-month period, compared to 61 for its nearest competitor. CCJ also profiled 11 trucking companies, three more than any other fleet publication. Since it acquired the publication in March 2001, Randall Publishing has significantly improved CCJ, a fact that has not been lost on the trucking industry, says Publisher Lawrence "Chip" Magner. "The support we've received from the advertising community has been tremendous," he says. "We've been able to grow our market share in a down market - proof that the industry recognizes the strength of our editorial product."
